Garret F. Smith
Garret Smith’s practice focuses on insurance tort and contract litigation. Mr. Smith represents the firm’s commercial clients in both personal injury actions and contract disputes. Mr. Smith has litigated insurance bad faith claims, commercial contract claims and intellectual property claims in state and federal courts. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Smith’s practice focused on litigation related to real property disputes such as boundary claims, improper lending practices and mortgage claims. Mr. Smith assisted in the successful prosecution of a wrongful foreclosure matter that established a private right of action against mortgage lenders for improper mortgage management and foreclosure practices.
After first attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, Mr. Smith graduated with honors from the University of San Diego with a B.A. in Business Administration/Finance in 2004. Mr. Smith obtained his juris doctor from Western State University College of Law in 2007.
Mr. Smith is admitted to practice law in California and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California.
